Plans submitted for multi-million pound care village

Detailed plans have now been submitted for the transformation of local landmark Charters Towers into a purpose-built retirement community.

The multi-million pound investment by Retirement Villages Ltd, which would create around 100 jobs, would breath new life into the site off Felcourt Road on the fringes of East Grinstead – currently the Sabrewatch Security site and previously the world famous Bush Davies Ballet School.

Cash bonus to give young jobless a start in social care

Employers across Britain will get £1,000 for taking on a young person who is struggling to find work. Additional free pre-employment training packages will also get young recruits off to a flying start through the Care First Careers initiative announced today by Care Services Minister, Phil Hope, and Work and Pensions Minister, Jim Knight.

The Royal Star & Garter Charity is delighted that its new care home in Solihull, West Midlands, has won the Elderly Care (more than 60 beds) category in the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards 2009.
